Pygeum africanum, also called Prunus africana, has been studied for lower urinary symptoms associated with BPH. NCCIH describes the evidence as limited: older trials suggested possible short-term improvements, but studies were generally small, short and used varying preparations.
Interpretation: “Some evidence” is not the same as strong proof, and results from a standardized extract cannot automatically be transferred to every supplement formula.
